File actions

Hold ⌃ mid-drag and you get a ring that has nothing to do with converting. Six things to do with a file.

These work on any file — an application, a folder, a .sketch, a mixed selection — including everything Arazio cannot convert.

AirDrop

Opens the share sheet with the file already attached. Saves opening Finder's menu, finding Share, and finding AirDrop inside it.

Shelf

Parks the file in a small floating window so you can pick it up later from a different app. The Shelf has its own page.

Copy

Puts the file itself on the clipboard — not its path. Paste it into a Finder window and you get a copy of the file.

Move

Asks for a destination folder and moves the file there. The ring gets out of the way while the folder picker is open.

This is a move, not a copy: the original is gone from where it was.

Copy Path

Puts the full path on the clipboard as text. For pasting into a terminal, a config file, or a message to someone who needs to know where a thing lives.

Terminal

Opens the file's folder in Terminal, already cd-ed there.

Why these six

They are the things people do with files immediately after finding them in Finder, each of which otherwise takes a menu or a window. The ring is already open under your cursor because you were dragging anyway.

Folders and mixed selections

All six work on folders. All six work on a selection containing several different kinds of thing — which is the case where the formats ring has nothing to offer, because there is no format that is sensibly both a video and a spreadsheet.
