# Privacy Policy

**Arazio does not collect, transmit, or store your data.**

Last updated: 8 September 2026

## The short version

Every conversion happens on your Mac. Your files are never uploaded, never
copied to a server, and never seen by anyone but you. Arazio has no account, no
sign-in, and no cloud component.

## What Arazio does not do

- **No file uploads.** Conversion is entirely local.
- **No accounts.** There is nothing to sign in to.
- **No analytics or telemetry.** No usage tracking, no feature counters, no
  device fingerprinting.
- **No advertising**, and no data sold or shared with anyone.

## This is enforced by the code, not just promised

The claim is structural rather than a policy commitment:

- `ArazioCore` — the module containing every conversion engine and all file
  handling — **has no networking code linked into it at all**. No HTTP client,
  no socket, no upload path. This is verified on every build, and the release
  script refuses to proceed if a networking symbol appears there.
- The bundled FFmpeg is compiled `--disable-network`, so it **physically cannot
  open a socket**.

You can check both yourself:

```bash
otool -L /Applications/Arazio.app/Contents/MacOS/Arazio
/Applications/Arazio.app/Contents/Helpers/ffmpeg -protocols
```

## The only network connections Arazio ever makes

Two, both outside the conversion path.

1. **Licence activation**, once. When you enter your licence key, Arazio sends
   that key and **this Mac's name** to `live.dodopayments.com`, which is where
   the licence was issued. The Mac's name is sent so you can tell your own
   activations apart if you ever move the licence — it is the name in
   System Settings → General → About, and nothing is derived from your
   hardware. Nothing about your files is sent, because the app does not know
   anything about them at that point.

   Afterwards Arazio re-checks the licence **at most once a week**, sending the
   same key and an activation id. If that check cannot reach the server it is
   ignored and the app keeps working — a dropped connection never locks you
   out.

2. **Update checks.** Arazio asks `updates.arazioformac.com` whether a newer
   version exists. The request contains the current version and nothing else.
   Disable it in Settings.

**There is no crash reporting.** Arazio collects no analytics, no telemetry and
no usage data of any kind. If it crashes, macOS may offer to send Apple its own
report — that is between you and Apple, and nothing reaches me unless you
choose to send it yourself.

**None of these are in the conversion path.** The helper that does the
converting has no networking code linked into it at all, and the bundled FFmpeg
is compiled `--disable-network`, so a conversion physically cannot reach the
internet whatever the rest of the app is doing. That is the claim that matters,
and it is unchanged by activation.

## Files and permissions

- Arazio reads a file when you drag it in or choose it, and writes the
  converted result where you tell it to. Nothing else is touched.
- macOS may ask permission the first time Arazio writes to your Desktop,
  Documents, or Downloads folder. That is the system's own protection, and the
  answer is stored by macOS, not by Arazio.
- Temporary working files live in your system temporary directory and are
  deleted when a conversion finishes — including when it fails or is cancelled.
  Leftovers from a crash are removed at the next launch.

## What is stored on your Mac

| Data | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your settings | `UserDefaults` | To remember your preferences |
| Recent conversions | `UserDefaults` | Paths only, capped at 10, for the Recent menu |
| Your licence key and activation id | Keychain, with a copy in `UserDefaults` | To keep this Mac activated without asking again. The copy exists so a restored or migrated Mac does not lose an activation you paid for |

Your files never leave your Mac. Your licence key does, once, to be activated —
see above. Deleting Arazio and its preferences removes everything it stored.

## Your rights

Arazio holds no personal data, so there is nothing to request, export, correct,
or delete. Under GDPR, CCPA, and India's DPDP Act, obligations attach to data
that is collected; Arazio collects none.

## Children

Arazio is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

## Changes

Any change to this policy will be published here and in the app's release notes.
Because Arazio collects nothing, a change would mean a new feature — and one
that would be announced rather than slipped in.
