# TAR files

A bundle of files with no compression at all — which is why it is almost always paired with GZIP or BZ2.

## Convert TAR to

7Z, BZ2, GZIP, XZ, ZIP.

## Tools that work on TAR

Hold Option rather than Shift: Extract.

## Where the file goes

Beside the original, same folder, same name, new extension. Nothing is overwritten and nothing is uploaded.

Extensions: .tar · Category: archive
