# HEIC files

Apple's photo format, and what an iPhone saves by default. It is roughly half the size of a JPEG at the same quality, and it is refused by a great deal of software that is not made by Apple.

## Convert HEIC to

AVIF, BMP, GIF, JPG, PDF, PNG, TIFF, WebP.

## Tools that work on HEIC

Hold Option rather than Shift: Compress, Crop, Flip, Resize, Rotate, Strip Metadata.

## Where the file goes

Beside the original, same folder, same name, new extension. Nothing is overwritten and nothing is uploaded.

Extensions: .heic, .heif · Category: image
